Tapestry Taster Class
This class is for anyone who would like to pick up a bobbin and try tapestry weaving. It’s the perfect session if you have always wanted to have a go - no experience necessary.
Learn how to weave, prepare threads, change colours and try a shape. At the end of the class you can take home your own small tapestry!
This will be a small group of adult beginners, which should be lots of fun as we experiment with shapes and techniques.
Beginners & Improvers Class
This class is for complete beginners, those who would like to learn more after a taster class, as well as a refresher for those returning to weaving.
Start by setting up a tapestry frame, get to grips with plain weave, try geometric shapes, practice blending and learn tips and tricks to improve your weaving.
This is usually a small group of adult beginners and improvers.
One to One
Whether you’re a beginner wanting to try something new, or an intermediate weaver looking to improve your technique or solve weaving issues, a ‘one-to-one’ session would be for you. Or ‘one-to-two’ for you and a friend!
These sessions could include setting up a frame, weaving shapes and colour blending to hatching, cartoons, 3D techniques or problem solving, depending on experience.
The content would be tailor-made for you.
Tapestry Improver Sessions (TIS)
Each class focuses on one specific stage of the tapestry making process. You’ll come away with a better understanding of how to plan tapestry, use various techniques and complete your own project.
Session 1 - Planning a design, warping up, settings and working with a cartoon
Session 2 - Weaving shapes and ‘sheds’, inc. geometric and amorphous shapes, dots and circles
Session 3 - Weaving textures and tufting
Session 4 - Finishing off your work, incl. blocking, mounting and framing.
These sessions usually run once a year, so please get in touch if you are interested in joining.
